Overview:

The Treaty of Waitangi programme analyses the story of the Treaty within New Zealand, answering fundamental questions such as, 'What is the Treaty of Waitangi? What is its significance to New Zealanders historically and today? What are the issues that have arisen under the Treaty? How should it be implemented practically in the workplace?'

 

Delivery Style:

The seminar informs through a combination of lecture style delivery and interactive learning activities.

Participants are encouraged to participate in discussion, and by asking and answering focus questions.

 

Course Outline:

The 8 hour programme begins with the signing of the Treaty to analyse what the Treaty was meant to achieve and how it become so contentious.
 
Then, through an overview of the legal history of the Treaty participants will understand the significance of the Treaty as New Zealand's founding constitutional document and the relevance of the Treaty to the public sector today.
 

Course Objective:

Participants will understand the history of the Treaty of Waitangi in New Zealand, and how it applies to them today in the workplace and in society generally.

 

Cost and Duration
