Overview:

Private, one-on-one customised advise to assist you to deal confidently with Maori, colleagues, clients and key stakeholders.

Delivery Style:

In-house or via video-conferencing. AwaWhenua have the capacity to advise you either within NZ, or before you arrive.

Course Outline:

You will be prepared to engage in formal Maori ceremonial occasions, especially the powhiri (ritual of encounter). You will understand the process of engagement and construct your own mihimihi (Maori introduction) for greeting, welcoming, opening and closing speeches. There will also be a brief analysis of dos and don'ts when engaging with Maori. 

Course Objective:

Participants will gain an understanding of some fundamental Maori concepts and customary beliefs.  With this as a foundation, they will learn some key do's and don'ts when dealing with Maori.  Finally, participants will learn to greet and acknowledge with confidence in te reo Maori.
